AUDITION CALL!

Can you sing?
Can you dance?
Can you do stand-up comedy?
Can you play a musical instrument?
Are you a member of a talented cosplay group?
Know how to sew and make costumes?
Or any of the above?
And it just so happens that you're an anime and j-pop fan?!

Otakuthon's J-Pop 2007 team needs you!

The show will be during August 2007 (exact weekend still to be determined) and will last two hours on the stage, with various alternating numbers, all more or less related to j-pop and anime. Planning and practices will be from January to August (costumes, photo sessions, recordings, choreographies, song lyrics).

You need to live in the greater area of Montreal to participate, or to be able to get to the practices where your presence will be needed.

Auditions will be held on October 1st and 8th 2006, from 12:00pm to 4:00pm at Concordia University in Montreal; location details will be given on the Otakuthon website's forum. You must present yourself with the forms filled and signed (see links below) to audition.

  • For singing auditions: you may sing a cappella, bring your own karaoke CD, or an instrument to accompany you. You may also sing with a lyrics sheet. We suggest you sing easy songs which bring out your voice and show what you can do well (ex: DO NOT try to sing "Real Emotion" or "First Love" unless you're in tip-top shape). You don't have to sing in Japanese for the audition, but over 95% of the songs in the show will be in Japanese.
  • For dance auditions: You may dance with or without music (bring your own CD). All styles are accepted.
  • For stand-up auditions: You may act out your text with or without notes.
  • For cosplay groups: At least *one* group representative must present him or herself with pictures and a past or future concept.
  • For instrumental auditions: Contact me directly so we can discuss, or come with your instrument.
  • If you wish to help with costumes and everything else, come see us and we will see how you can help!

Understand that the auditions are independent from the show's content. Ex: if you sing a BoA song at the audition, it doesn't mean you'll sing BoA during the show, and so on.

The planning of the show will be done in French.
