Otakuthon Idol
Otakuthon IDOL is back for a special edition at home this year!! Otakuthon Idol is a contest that seeks to bring out the next Gackt or KOTOKO that sleeps in you! We’re very excited to have you back even if we have to change our usual format a bit.
This year the auditions will be held live from your own home!
Here are all the important details to remember:
Who can participate?
- Due to the virtual nature of the event, people under 16 years of age may not participate, even with the approval of their parents or legal guardian.
- Only solo artists can participate. Due to COVID-19 this year, groups will not be admitted.
- Applicants can choose a song from J-Pop, J-Rock, Visual-Kei, anime, manga, game, music or Enka sources.
- You must use a Karaoke backing track (no MIDI file, original track nor instrumental version can be used)
- You must have the necessary equipment in order to participate in the live online audition (video and sound)
- You must perform live; we do not accept pre-recorded video performances or lip-sync.
How to register?
- The form must be completed in full and submitted to our team before July 15, 2020.

How does the audition work?
- You will receive an invitation by email for your audition to be held by videoconference.
- When auditioning you must be ready to perform live (camera & sound).
- The jury will give you feedback after your performance. However, the choice of candidates selected for the grand finale will be communicated via email and on the official Otakuthon website.
